Group song choice

We decided as group that our final song choice would be If you can afford me by Katy Perry. The target audience for this video would be for both boys and girls but mainly targeted to males as the main character of the video will be representing herself in an attractive way. The video will be targetted to people ages 16-30 year olds as we think that the older generation wouldnt like this type of music.
The genre of our final song is pop.
The conventions that this style of music uses in its videos is to link the lyrics to the visuals, the video will be bright coloured and girly.
The music video will mainly be performace based.
The main charater in our video is a blonde and bubbly girl who will show that she wants to do well for herself and that she is really pretty and all the boys wants her.
We have planned many places to film our video, we have decided already that we are going to film in london down bond street, in a samll shop down  brentwood highstreet called allsorts, and the main characters house also in a skatepark in king georges and the schools drama hall.
The music channels that will show my music video is MTV as they are always showing Pop music, You Tube will show it, most of the music channels will show my music video as Pop music like this is always in the charts so the music channels will show the charts, apart from shows such a VH1, Kerrange, Scuzz and NME.
Media technologies affect the consumption of music videos as 25 years ago there was only a single channel where you could watch music videos and you had to have a cable, now music is much more widely avalible. There are more music channels that have different types of music on them (e.g. channel AKA and Kerrang) they can suit the niche audiences so more people watch them. People can now go on youtube and watch music videos whenever they want. This means music videos are more watched and widely avalible.
